What is fertility counselling?

Fertility counselling is the process of speaking to a qualified, experienced counsellor or psychologist about all aspects of fertility and fertility treatment.

At TFP Fertility, we provide a range of counselling services to our patients, helping you to find the best counselling route for you.

Counselling can help you prepare for the challenges ahead and give you a safe space to share your thoughts and feelings.

Our counsellors and psychologists are here for you whenever you need support – before, during and after treatment.

Supportive fertility counselling

Fertility treatment can affect all areas of your life; relationships, work, financial situation and much more. Support counselling allows you to discuss aspects of your journey that are troubling you. You may find support counselling useful at different stages of your treatment as your feelings and circumstances change throughout your journey.

Implications fertility counselling

If you're undergoing treatment using donor eggs or sperm, implications fertility counselling aims to help you understand the emotional and legal aspects of using a donor and their impact on your future family. This counselling is also offered to all our egg and sperm donors to help them understand the impact of their donation.

Counselling for unsuccessful treatment

We offer specialist counselling for patients in the event of an unsuccessful treatment cycle. This type of counselling aims to help patients process their feelings in a safe space and discuss what their next steps may be. You can attend these sessions alone, with a partner or both.
Reproductive Genetics

Genetics counselling

Genetics counselling is focused on genetic testing, such as pre-implantation genetic testing. You might attend if you or a family member has a genetic condition or if you're suffered multiple miscarriages. You'll have the opportunity to discuss the condition and learn about the risk of your child inheriting the condition and how tests and treatments can overcome this risk.
