Dr Jim Moohan's training in infertility began as a research registrar in Queen’s University Belfast where he obtained his Doctorate Thesis. He then completed higher specialist training at Hammersmith Hospital, London. Here he worked alongside Professor Lord Winston.
Experience
Following his position at Hammersmith Hospital, Dr Moohan went on to complete two prestigious subspeciality fellowships. In 1993 he took up a position as subspecialty fellow in laparoscopic surgery at the world famous Monash Medical Centre, Melbourne. On his return to Ireland in 1995, Dr Moohan completed his second subspeciality fellowship in reproductive medicine and surgery, spending a year at the HARI unit in the Rotunda Hospital, Dublin working with Professor Robbie Harrison.
Further training in endoscopic surgery
Dr Moohan also holds an MSc in Advanced Endoscopic Surgery from the University of Surrey in 2017 and a Diploma in Advanced Obstetric Ultrasound, awarded jointly by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Royal College of Radiologists. Dr Moohan’s commitment to improving endometriosis treatment also led to the establishment of the first British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) recognised endometriosis centre in Ireland.

These are key services for patients requiring treatment for severe endometriosis and uterine abnormalities. He plays a vital role in fertility help for patients experiencing endometriosis or other uterine problems.
