Choosing to freeze embryos is a significant decision and one that can feel overwhelming, more so when it comes to the cost. We're here to support you on your embryo freezing journey. Our transparent pricing ensures you have all the information you need to move forward.
Embryo freezing is a method of preserving your fertility as a couple or co-parent, giving you the time to focus on what matters right now, whilst allowing you to try for a family at a time that's right for you.
You'll need to undergo a partial IVF cycle, where we'll retrieve the eggs from the ovaries and fertilise them with sperm in a lab. They are left to develop into embryos over 5-6 days and any healthy embryos are frozen and safely stored for future use.
To understand the cost of your embryo freezing treatment, it helps to know the individual steps involved in the process.
Fertility assessment
The first step in your embryo freezing journey is a fertility assessment. This will provide you with the answers you need to make empowered choices about your future fertility.
For females, this includes an anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) blood test followed by an antral follicle count (AFC) trans-vaginal scan. Together, these provide an accurate measure of your fertility health and your likely response to the medication used in fertility treatments.
For males, the main fertility test is a semen analysis which assesses your sperm count, as well as their shape and ability to swim.
Fertility treatment
For the embryo freezing itself, you'll undergo a partial IVF cycle. This involves a two-week course of hormone medication to stimulate egg growth followed by an egg retrieval procedure under mild sedation.
Healthy eggs are then mixed with the sperm of your partner, co-parent or donor and left to fertilise naturally.
Fertilised eggs are left for 5-6 days to develop into mature embryos. These are monitored using an EmbryoScope™ which helps us select the strongest embryos for freezing.
Embryo freezing
Healthy embryos are then rapidly cooled using a method known as vitrification. They are then stored safely in liquid nitrogen until you're ready to use them.
